FSCNY ANNOUNCES SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS 2018
 
College-bound high school students from NYC, Nassau, Rockland, Westchester Counties selected as recipients for 22ndannual scholarship program 
Retired State Assemblyman Herman “Denny” Farrell, Jr. honored with Howard I. Stein Industry Service Award.
May 2, 2018, New York, NY – On Thursday, April 26th, college-bound high school students from New York City, Nassau, Rockland and Westchester Counties received the 2018 Young Leaders Scholarship Award offered by Financial Service Centers of New York (FSCNY) and sponsored by MoneyGram International.
In total, nine students received more than $31,500 in scholarship money and prizes.  The awards were presented at FSCNY's Annual Scholarship Luncheon, which took place at the Brooklyn Bridge Marriott, during FSCNY's 26thAnnual Conference & Exposition.  
 
Recently retired State Assemblyman Denny Farrell, who served more than four decades in the Assembly, including as chairman of the Banks and Ways and Means Committees, receive the 2018 Howard I. Stein Industry Service Award during the Luncheon in recognition of his lifetime advocacy for access to financial services among all communities throughout the State.  
"Every year, FSCNY's Young Leaders Scholarship Luncheon brings together industry and community leaders, with exemplary college-bound students who are making an impactful difference in their communities and have shown a solid commitment to community service, academic achievement and excellence”, said Gina M. Palumbo, chairperson of the Young Leaders Scholarship Program.  “This year we were thrilled to recognize Assemblyman Denny Farrell at the Scholarship Luncheon.  Senator Farrell leaves behind a 40+ year legacy in the Legislature for his advocacy of education and financial services for all". 
 
After an application review and student interview process, FSCNY's Scholarship Committee selected a grand prize winner for the William Siegel Memorial Scholarship ($5,000 award) and co-grand prize winners for Gene Schott Memorial Scholarship Awards ($5,000 each), three First Place Scholarship Award winners ($3,500 each), and three Second Place Scholarship Award winners ($2,000 each).  Each winner also received a Samsung Galaxy tablet courtesy of TellerMetrix, an FSCNY associate member.  All winners are high school seniors entering their freshman year in college next Fall.

Now in its 22nd year, FSCNY's Young Leaders Scholarship Program has granted nearly $820,000 dollars to 333 students since its inception in 1996.  

The Winners Circle – Open to Past Recipients of FSCNY Young Leaders Scholarship Winners

 
FSCNY Young Leaders Scholarship winners are a special group of individuals dedicated to community service and excellence. Through The Winners Circle, past scholarship recipients have the opportunity to share their experiences, stories, and achievements with other like-minded professionals and more recent winners. And, no matter how far they may have traveled from ‘home,’ joining The Winners Circle is an opportunity to network, find opportunities and old contacts, and reconnect with their communities. The Winners Circle will also be a way to keep the success and momentum of the FSCNY Young Leaders Scholarship program moving along and building for the future.
